HISTORY OF CHINGAY

Singapore’s Chingay Parade started back in 1973 and has become a norm for many Singaporeans to watch during the Lunar New Year. What started as a way to compensate for the ban on firecrackers turned out to be an event that many Singaporeans hold deeply. It welcomes the new year with a myriad of performances, floats and involves people from all walks of life.
